In fact, their Tony Birtley won the prize for best breaking VJ story for his coverage of the Burma democracy riots. Sue Phillips, who we have known for years, (most recently as the head of Newsworld) is now moving to Doha to head up their English news channel. James Piscopo may become MLP's first CEO

Media reports are pointing to a member of Joseph Muscat's core campaign team during the leadership race, James Piscopo, as the man earmarked for the new post of MLP chief executive officer. The news was known to only a small number of Labour insiders, but it was leaked to the PN media on Wednesday. It has been neither confirmed nor denied by the Labour administration.

The BBC, CNN, CBC Newsworld and other all-news broadcasters covered scarcely anything but the narrowly averted catastrophe throughout the day. Funny thing, but the general public wasn't buying it.
